Where can I begin. As a wedding photographer who has only within the past 24 months or so relocated from the east coast to Colorado, trying to establish my business in a completely new place with absolutely no name recognition and no pre-established clientele has been something I haven’t considered a “challenge” per se as much as I would call it a new frontier. Since I’m not yet known here for my photojournalistic and technically experimental style, I’ve had lead after lead in some sense or another grow cold because they came to me looking for “just another photographer” and not necessarily because my work was something that spoke to them. Now enter Logan and Mikaela…

Logan himself also a photographer, when I was doing a bridal expo here locally they stopped at my booth for exactly the reason I hoped someone would. Which was my work spoke to them. I hit it off with both of them, but when Logan and I got caught up talking about the art and expression of photographer I knew I’d found an ideal person I could only wish would become my client.

Sure enough, they reached back out, not only to hire me, but saying the decision to hire me was the most Important one to them. To hear this sentiment in a new city with new people means the world. I hate to make the intro to this blog post about part of my story and less about my couple but since this was the begging of our relationship I think its equally important that I share this as it is that I share who they were on their wedding day and how much I love them as people.

I feel so fortunate that I’m finding my people here in Colorado. Faster than I thought I would to be honest. I know I sound like a broken record when I say this but the past few weddings I’ve done here continue to be a testament to why I love doing what I do, and why weddings will always be such a core part of the art I will continue to make for decades to come.

When family and friends come together to support a relationship and you can see the richness of the past they share with the couple just in a single day; I am more and more brought to tears.

I get to do this.

While I will always be a photographer who pursues the technical achievement of a dramatically profound portrait, the in-between moments are becoming far more important to me as the years draw on. I hope when you look at these images that you feel the connection between Logan Mikaela and their people. As well as wonder as to how the heck some of these images were made. That is after all what I love so much about this medium.
